Through working closely with the owner, Avesta Housing, a Maine non-profit corporation, and Lassel Architects, we have completed the River Turn Woods Apartments development. These mixed-income, multi-family homes are located in Conway, NH, and are aptly named for their frontal views of the white mountains and the adjacent Saco river.
This project consists of three-stories, containing 65 one and two-bedroom apartments. Also, this is the first building of four planned. In total for this project, Avesta plans to bring 156 affordable housing amidst NH’s current shortage.
This first structure is a Passive House design using the modeling and verification processes through PHIUS. It’s a three-story building with wood-framing and sheathing. The building envelope assemblies, air-sealing details, and fenestrations were key installation details. Each unit has Innova heat pump units with supplemental baseboard heating. In addition, Heat recovery units on each floor send fresh air to units.
