PROJECT SUMMARY

The work was done in a fully occupied building. Communication and coordination needed to be done on a daily basis in order to keep the project moving forward and staff safe. The scope of the job increased substantially, but the end date needed to remain the same due to funding requirements. Since the original project had minimal interior renovation, except adding a lot of duct work in the rooms, the staff remained in the building. The project required some off hours and weekend work to keep things running on schedule.

The existing building is a wood timber frame main structure with block and brick veneer. The building has a slab on grade first level, with a concrete plank deck for the second floor and third floor mechanical loft. The roof is a PVC membrane roof. New Fiber glass windows were added to the project and the exterior brick re-pointed and cleaned. The interior partitions are CMU block painted. The old exposed concrete floors were renovated to new polyurea floors and new carpet was installed in some of the office areas. The rooms were marine life laboratories with casework and fumehoods.
