PROJECT SUMMARY

Since the early 1990’s, Hutter Construction Corporation completed over 64 projects and 262 work orders for Monadnock Community Hospital. 

As part of the most recent projects, we upgraded the critical services of the Hospital by adding a new modular multi-unit emergency power plant with sequenced start-up and programmable load shedding, plant upgrades and a new water service network.

By 2010, we worked with various design & engineering firms to completely reorganized the hospital site. We built new campus style parking fields mixed with green space, a new perimeter road, sheltered drop-off access to every major entrance of the hospital, enhanced traffic flow for patient safety and user convenience, and new round-abouts. The round-about traffic controls and counter clock wise drop-offs eliminated the need for cars to cross oncoming traffic lanes. Almost all navigation on the site is outside of the parking fields. The design directed the driver into a right hand merge option rather than requiring them to stop and cross oncoming traffic. Stopping and turning requirements were reduced by 80%.

New state-of-the-art Emergency Department, new Operating Suite expansion, shell space and infrastructure for planned future expansions expanded key services of the hospital. Renovations facilitated the User Groups Lean Process work flow changes and life safety upgrades.

Some of the features of this project included a pre-construction risk assessment program, green initiatives in advanced energy systems, collaborative processes, BIM concept modeling and fly-over simulations, 3D design formatting, multi-sequence drawings for the 23 phases of this renovation project, advanced infection control programs and the administration of an Owner/User/Builder “Core Communication Group.”

Hutter was awarded AGC’s Build NH Award for Best Building Category for the Hospital’s Campus Master Plan in 2011.
