Claremont Community Center
Claremont, NH
PROJECT SUMMARY
This two-story structure is approximately 50,000 sf and was designed to fit the natural sloped terrain. The project was built with high durability materials and advanced thermal and moisture systems.
Great effort was taken to design a building that was state-of-the-art for the various uses, but also flexible for other functions. For example, the building is designed to be an overnight shelter in the event of a crisis.
The exterior of the building is constructed of metal siding and masonry, which is complemented by glass and aluminum feature windows.
As with all buildings that house swimming pools, the filtration, chemical disinfection, moisture mitigation and corrosion resistance issues were critical and complex. Care was taken to use advanced material not subject to wear, but easily repairable in the event of damage.
The community center has a fitness and weight area, cycling room, rubber track, gymnasium, Olympic size swimming pool, children’s swimming pool, locker rooms, dance/aerobic studio and function room with a serving kitchen. It also includes childcare and facility offices, which are located on the first floor.
